Scheduled flight from Frankfurt with stopover at Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.
Day 2: JAKARTA (APPROXIMATELY 25 KM)
After arrival, you will be met by your guide and transferred to your hotel in Jakarta. The rest of the day is free for your first explorations of the capital.
Day 3: JAKARTA - BANDUNG (APPROXIMATELY 170 KM)
After breakfast, you'll discover more of Jakarta. Your first stop is Kota Tua, Jakarta's oldest district, which encompasses the original city center. Take a stroll along the Dutch colonial buildings that still recall Indonesia's centuries-old history. Visiting the Fatahillah Museum, also known as the Jakarta History Museum, you'll learn about the creation of the capital and the culture of the diverse Kota Tua district. Next, visit the Istiqlal Mosque. This is the largest mosque in Southeast Asia, both in terms of capacity and structure. Under a magnificent 45 m diameter dome, the Istiqlal Mosque can accommodate 120,000 people. Next stop: Bandung.
Day 4: BANDUNG - TANGKUBAN PERAHU - CIREBON (APPROX. 170 KM)
After breakfast, drive to Tangkuban Perahu, a volcano in West Java. The name translates as "capsized ship", due to the shape of the volcano, which from a distance resembles the hull of an overturned ship. Bring your swimsuit, as you can then relax in the Ciater hot spring. Ciater is an area of tea plantations and hot springs about 30 minutes from the Tangkuban Perahu crater. The pools are fed by hot mineral springs created by the heat of nearby volcanoes. Up to the crater of the active volcano Tangkuban Perahu, the mineral water can be extremely hot and contain sulfur. The temperature of Ciater's natural hot springs can reach up to 46° Celsius. As you relax, you'll again be accompanied by an impressive view - this time of the surrounding Ciater tea plantation. After a little excitement and relaxation, you're off today to your destination: Cirebon.
Day 5: CIREBON - SEMARANG - YOGYAKARTA (APPROXIMATELY 360 KM)
After breakfast, drive to Semarang (approx. 4 hours). The port city is a melting pot of magnificent architecture, rich history and culinary specialties. Once in the city of over a million inhabitants, visit the Sam Poo Kong temple. Unlike most temples, the building doesn't belong to any particular religion, but rather serves as a place of worship for people of different ethnic and religious groups, including Buddhists, Taoists and Muslims. Sam Poo Kong is the oldest of the 5 temples in the Sam Poo Kong complex, which covers 3.2 hectares. With its magnificent red paintwork and Chinese architectural style, this temple makes you feel like you're in China for a second. Next, head for Lawang Sewu, a magnificent building constructed by the Dutch in the late 19th century as a former office block. After this stop, you continue your journey to Yogyakarta.
Day 6: YOGYAKARTA
First stop in Yogyakarta, known for its traditional arts and cultural heritage. You start your exploration tour at the impressive Borobudur temple, one of the world's largest Buddhist temple complexes. Set amidst the tropical landscape of Central Java, the temple complex, over 1,000 years old, is one of Indonesia's most impressive monuments. Please note that only the Pelataran and Tempelhof areas are accessible to visitors. With its magnificent buildings, intricate carvings and impressive sculptures, Borobudur temple is not for nothing a highlight of your trip and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1991. Back in central Yogyakarta, you'll experience an exciting ride to the next stage of your journey today. You'll be given an authentic ride to the Sultan's Palace in a traditional "Becak" rickshaw. Built in 1755 for the first sultan of the city of Yogyakarta, the palace still serves as the sultan's headquarters. To round off this cultural day in style, visit the Prambanan temple. The temple is used to worship the Hindu god Shiva and is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After a busy day, you'll spend another night in Yogyakarta.
Day 7: YOGYAKARTA - SURAKARTA - SURABAYA (APPROX. 325 KM)
After breakfast, it's time to say goodbye to Yogyakarta. You'll head for the heart of the island of Java: to the city of Surakarta - mainly called Solo by the locals. Here, you'll visit the majestic Mangkunegaran Palace. This palace is the cultural and artistic center of Surakarta, and houses many precious collections and writings. Built in 1757, this magnificent structure served as the seat of the Mangkunegaran royal family. Today, the palace is an impressive example of Javanese architecture, with its elaborate carvings and ornate decorations. Next, visit the House of Danar Hadi, an international batik museum featuring traditional fabrics, live demonstrations and textiles for sale. Here, you'll learn more about the history and different techniques of batik, but also marvel at some of the finest examples of this craft. Finally, you'll head for Surabaya (approx. 4-hour drive), where you'll spend the night.
Day 8: SURABAYA - BROMO - JEMBER (approx. 240 KM)
After breakfast, drive to the youngest crater in the Tengger volcanic massif, the Bromo stratovolcano. Clouds of smoke repeatedly rise from the Bromo, which rises above the ground to over 2,300 m above sea level. You then continue eastwards on the island of Java to your hotel in Jember.
Day 9: JEMBER - KALIBARU - BANYUWANGI (APPROXIMATELY 125 KM)
After breakfast, you'll follow the production of "Cerutu", an Indonesian cigar, on a local plantation. Learn about the traditional cigar-making method and its history. The tour continues afterwards. Visiting the village of Kalibaru, you'll learn more about local agriculture and get an insight into the different traditional practices and lifestyles of East Java. Finally, continue to your hotel in Banyuwangi.
Day 10: BANYUWANGI/JAVA - GILIMANUK/BALI - BANYUWEDANG (ABOUT 35 KM)
After breakfast, you'll head today to the neighboring island of Bali. From the port of Banyuwangi, take a public ferry to Bali's Gilimanuk pier. After docking, you'll be transferred to your hotel in Banyuwedang. The rest of the day is free for your first explorations of Bali.
Day 11: BANYUWEDANG - UBUD (APPROX. 125 KM)
After breakfast, visit the important Ulundanu Beratan water temple. Located on Lake Beratan, surrounded by mountains, this temple is one of Bali's most visited temples among local believers. Next, enjoy the Candikuning market, a traditional fruit and vegetable market located in the mountainous region of Bedugul. Afterwards, a special highlight is on the program: a stop at the Jatiluwih rice terraces. "Jatiluwih" is Balinese and means "beautiful". When you see the rice terraces, which have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2012, you'll understand why they bear this name. Transfer to your hotel in Ubud, where you'll spend the night.
Day 12: UBUD
A day off! Perfect for relaxing or exploring on your own.
Day 13: UBUD - SANUR (APPROXIMATELY 25 KM)
Today, you'll first visit the traditional Balinese mountain village of Penglipuran, best known for its unique architecture and verdant hills. Learn to understand the local Balinese wisdom and immerse yourself in village life. You'll then head towards Penelokan to a viewpoint where you can enjoy excellent views of the imposing Batur volcano and the adjacent crater lake of the same name, Bali's largest lake. The final highlight of the day is the Besakih temple, affectionately called the "Mother Temple" by the locals. This is the island's most important and sacred temple, located on the southern slopes of the Agung volcano. Then it's back to your hotel in Sanur, south of Bali, for a relaxing end to a successful day.
