The bazaar smells of fresh bread, shashlik and sweet melons, while mountains of dried fruit and nuts catch our eye. A few meters further on, we walk in the shadow of immense decorated portals, above us, turquoise domes reflect the sunlight. This is Uzbekistan, the cradle of the region's culture for over two millennia, marked by the turbulent history of the Silk Road and the proud home of ancient cities and fascinating architecture.

Profile :
This tour explores the cultural and natural treasures of Uzbekistan. It includes visits to the historic cities of Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva, as well as excursions to the Chimgan and Nuratau mountains. Particular emphasis is placed on a community-based tourism project in the Nuratau massif, allowing immersion in local life through homestays.
Requirements :
The trip requires good physical condition for hikes of up to 8 hours on unmade trails. No technical skills are required, and some stages can be bypassed. Long car journeys are to be expected on sometimes unpaved roads.
Hosting :
In the towns and in Yusufhona, accommodation is in medium-category hotels with private bathrooms. In the Nuratau massif, participants stay in traditional guesthouses, with outdoor sanitary facilities and simple amenities. Travelers are assigned according to availability.
Catering :
Meals include breakfast, dinner and seven lunches. Uzbek cuisine is mainly based on meat, bread, pasta and traditional dishes such as Plov. Vegetarian meals are available on request.
Durability :
The stay in Nuratau supports a community tourism project aimed at reducing rural exodus and preserving the local environment. This project was awarded the To Do Award in 2023 for its positive impact on mountain villages.
Transport :
The vehicle used depends on the number of participants (minibus or air-conditioned bus). Roads can be rough, which can be a problem for people with back problems.
Electricity :
Sockets are available in all accommodations, but temporary power cuts may occur in mountain villages. An external battery is recommended.

It's essential to show respect for local customs, especially by asking permission before taking photos of people.
