TURKEY Hiking & Trekking

Backpacking in Turkey - A country on two continents
Here, East and West, tradition and modernity, mountains and sea unite to create a unique blend. The country's diversity of landscapes leaves few wishes unfulfilled for keen hikers. Shady pine forests make hiking along the Mediterranean coast a pleasure. Down below, in a small sandy cove, the water sparkles in the sun - is it time for a swim break?

Turkey offers a unique hiking experience, combining varied landscapes, traditions and modernity. Hikers can enjoy shady forests and the beauty of the Mediterranean coast, with the possibility of a swim break in sunny coves.

Mount Ararat is a symbolic peak for hikers, considered the landing site of Noah's Ark and a "sacred mountain" on the border between Armenia, Turkey and Iran. Although the view from Armenia is particularly impressive, the ascent is only possible from Turkey. An experienced agency offers two options for climbing Mount Ararat, providing a unique opportunity to discover this mythical place.

Trekking and hiking tours offered by EMIT-Services,

"Slow Hiking"   "Slow Trekking

The trekking and hiking tours offered by EMIT-Services focus on "Slow Trekking" and "Slow Hiking", allowing you to follow the rhythm of nature in small groups. This concept favors exclusive itineraries, reducing our ecological footprint and offering immersion in unspoilt landscapes, far removed from mass tourism. The emphasis is on authentic experience rather than performance, encouraging a mental deceleration to discover culture and landscapes at a leisurely pace. Our groups, made up of 6 to 12 participants, allow for deeper interaction.

The myth of Ararat's ascent

Ararat is one of those iconic mountains that every trekker and mountaineer dreams of conquering. Although not one of the Seven Summits, it is of particular importance as a mythical place, notably the presumed landing site of Noah's Ark. Situated on the border between Armenia, Turkey and Iran, this sacred mountain is most impressive when viewed from Armenia, but must be climbed from Turkey.

Discover Turkey at your own pace with the exclusive programs of our local agency, renowned for its expertise on Ararat and the different itineraries of its expeditions to the summit.

IN THE HEART OF THE KINGDOM OF WONDERS

Travel no. HE987H67

trekking in the rocky landscape of Cappadocia and the Taurus mountains

14 days / 13 nights

No-obligation pre-registration

Number of participants: 6 to 12 people

  • 8-day camping trek in the Taurus mountains (4 to 6 hours per day)
  • Hikes: 4 x moderate (4 to 6 hours)
  • Ascent of Embler (3,723 m), summit day ↑↓ 700 m ascent, 4 to 5 hours

  • Camping on the seven-lake plateau, Yedigöller, surrounded by mountain peaks
  • Explore the underground city of Kaymakli on foot
  • Mountain trekking with a local team

The vast valleys are dotted with magical rock formations. Tuff mushrooms emerge from the ground, sharp-topped chimneys rise skyward, and pyramids of volcanic rock form the backdrop to an arid lunar landscape. Faces seem to smile from the rock faces, and behind every curve lies the entrance to a cave. Volcanic rocks tint the landscape with reds, yellows and ochres, while hot-air balloons add splashes of color to the sky. This is Cappadocia, the land of fairies.

We hike through the vast Akvadi valley, visit one of the oldest troglodyte churches in the Kizilkukur valley and explore Uchisar, the highest village in the region. Nature offers us strange sculptures, sometimes even underground. In contrast, we discover the idyllic Taurus mountains, walk over gentle alpine pastures to Lake Karagöl, cross the flower-filled Maden Gorge and admire the view of the Aladaglar range near the Tekkekalesi pass. We come across semi-nomads living in tents with their sheep and goats, as well as farmers in isolated villages. Nature graces us with magnificent panoramas, and the friendly people touch our hearts, as if in a fairy tale.
